Tips for the RBT / BCBA
- Scoring: the app records only the first touch in each trial. After an error, the app says “Try again,” says the sentence again, and waits. When the learner touches the correct picture, the next trial starts. The score of the trial stays incorrect.
- Stimuli: the two pictures always show the same activity. Only the pronoun is different. Picture rules: we shows the view of the learner. The hands of the learner are in the picture. The learner does the activity with one partner (an adult or a friend), and the partner faces the learner. they shows three children far away. The children face each other and do the activity together.
- Phase 2: adds He is… and She is… prompts and pictures of one child to the we/they practice. All four pronouns can be correct answers or picture distractors.
- Randomization: each block has an equal number of each target pronoun. The app puts the pronoun, the activity, and the left/right position in a random order. The same pronoun or side does not occur more than two times in sequence. The same activity does not occur two times in sequence.
- Data: after each block, the app shows the correct and incorrect answers for each pronoun. To stop a block early, tap ✕. Then you see the data for the answered trials.
- iPad: to keep the learner in the app, use Guided Access (Settings → Accessibility). The speaker button says the sentence again at any time.
Tips for the RBT / BCBA
- Find the word: the voice says “Find, she.” The learner touches one of 2 or 3 written cards. The app scores only the first touch. After an error, the app says “Try again,” says the word again, and waits for the correct card. The prompt never shows the written word, so the learner cannot match it by sight. You see the word in small text at the top.
- Read the word: the app shows one large card and makes no sound. Give your instruction (“What word?”). Then tap Correct or Not yet for the first response. You can also push → or ←. Give prompts and corrections yourself.
- Words: each list has 4 or 5 words. Each word is in only one list. “Her” is in the him/her/us/them list. The incorrect cards come from the same list.
- Randomization: each block has an equal number of each word. The same word or card position does not occur more than two times in sequence.
- Data: each learner mode, word list, and number of cards is a different phase on the graph of the learner.
